Environment, Social, Governance (ESG)

Environmental Responsibility

At Epscan, we continuously work to minimize our environmental impact by actively reducing our carbon footprint. Since the late 1990’s, we’ve been procuring and installing solar panels in remote locations, enabling clients to source renewable energy, reducing overall energy consumption.

GREEN RESOURCES

Prioritizing green, sustainable resources to minimize our carbon footprint.

WASTE MINIMIZATION

Minimizing waste through cable recycling, proper disposal practices, and detailed spill reporting.

LEAK PREVENTION

Leaks are prevented by using spill trays under rotating and threading equipment.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Transparency and opportunity-for-all exist wholeheartedly at Epscan Industries.

Since the beginning, we’ve believed in mentoring and creating opportunities in the trades. For over 40 years, Epscan has been part of the Peace River Region, working hard to support the region’s growth by providing steady jobs and hands-on training.

We partner with local high schools through the Registered Apprentice Program, helping students build practical skills and gain real-world experience that sets them on a path to future employment. Hiring locally not only strengthens our workforce–it’s about investing in our neighbours and building a stronger, more sustainable community for the next generation.

“My brother did his apprenticeship with Epscan, I knew the Manager I would be working with from hockey and I knew a few other guys who worked here, so I thought of the few options there were this would be the most comfortable fit for me and they offered me options to work around school hours.”   – Zack, Apprentice Electrician

We aim to create inclusive spaces and opportunities that foster growth and strengthen our community ties.

We take pride in our joint venture with the Blueberry River First Nations. This collaboration aims to foster cultural engagement, ensuring that Indigenous perspectives are integrated into Epscan’s operations and decision-making.

Another way we do this is by actively participating in and supporting local initiatives, including the Inconnu Swim Club, FSJ Men’s Soccer, and the Blueberry River First Nation Cultural Camp.

GOVERNANCE

Strong governance is the foundation of our business.

At Epscan, we believe that good governance starts with open communication. We maintain open communication with staff, contractors, and stakeholders, using feedback at every stage to refine our practices.

As a family-owned company, we take pride in developing policies with active leadership involvement, ensuring integrity and accountability in every decision.

Proactive safety protocols, rigorous risk management, and thorough assessments help us maintain a strong safety record. We continually monitor and improve our practices to reduce incidents and ensure a safe environment for employees and stakeholders.

We have not had a lost time incident since October 2007.

Our transparency extends beyond operations as we track and report key metrics, such as, compliance and safety, supporting our mission of ‘Building Excellence, Safely.’
