On behalf of the Fort St. John Senior Flyers Hockey Club, I would like to extend our sincere thanks to you for supporting our sponsorship efforts in hosting the 2019 Coy Cup BC Hockey Senior AA Championship.

The Senior Flyers have a rich hockey history in the Peace Country and the 2018-2019 seasonn marked our 60th anniversary. We were extremely honoured to host the Coy Cup at the North Peace Arena March 26-30, and your support helped ensure that the 2019 provincial championship was a resounding success.

Once again, thank you very much for your generous support.

Team Tardi BC Men’s Curling Team - 2019 VOIP Defender World Junior Men’s Curling Champions

“I am so excited to let you know that the boys did it again…they are the 2019 VOIP Defender World Junior Men’s Curling Champions.

They had a fantastic week in Liverpool, Nova Scotia.  They started off with the 4 toughest teams in the event and split the games 2:2.  They ground it out and never faltered after that and rode the wave right to the last rock of the gold medal game.

The number of times we heard what a nice group of young men they were, that they were great ambassadors for the sport and Canada made my heart swell!  They interacted with the fans, with the school kids and the volunteers absolutely loved them!  We handed out over 400 Team Canada sponsor postcards to the fans in the stands!!  A young curler who saw Tyler competing at the 2017 U18’s in New Brunswick was so excited to meet the team in person.  Another young man who was at this years Nationals, traded his shirt with Tyler so he could give him Tyler’s BC shirt.  He showed up in Liverpool wearing Tyler’s shirt and I had the opportunity to speak to his mom.  She said he listed Tyler as his curling hero and was beyond excited to get to meet him in person.  The team signed a Team Tardi icePad for him, gave him a team postcard and posed for pictures.  Tyler also autographed the shirt for him.  His mom said she thinks he’ll never take the shirt off!!  All of Team Tardi took the time to sign autographs, take pictures with the kids in the stands and handed out postcards to all of the fans.  They were a definite hit with the crowd!!  The volunteers said they were so polite and they absolutely loved them.

If you haven’t had a chance, we did a daily blog while they were in Liverpool, with lots of pictures!

Although that was the final junior event of the season for the boys, it isn’t quite the end for them yet!  They have been officially invited to play in the Pinty’s Grand Slam of Curling – Humpty’s Champion Cup which will take place in Saskatoon, SK from April 24-28.  Once that event is over, the team will go it’s separate way.  Matthew and Alex have aged out of Juniors and Tyler and Sterling are contemplating the direction they will go next year.  They do still have one more year of junior eligibility, but they’re not sure what they’re going to do yet.

The Langley Curling Centre is hosting a Welcome back World Champions Meet and Greet at the Langley Curling Centre tomorrow night starting at 8 pm.  If you are available, we would love to see you there!!

Thank-you all for what you did for the boys throughout the season!  The clothing, equipment, food and financial support were tremendous and we are so very grateful for your belief in the boys and for the support you gave them.  We are eternally grateful!”

ICBA Wins North American Trade Association of the Year

VANCOUVER – The Independent Contractors and Businesses Association (ICBA) has won six prestigious Reed Awards, including being named the 2019 North American Trade Association of the Year, at a ceremony last week in Austin, Texas.

“This is a tremendous honour and reflects the caliber of work being undertaken by the ICBA team in workforce development, public policy advocacy and communications and marketing,” said Chris Gardner, ICBA President. “It also highlights ICBA’s willingness to fearlessly speak out on policy issues consistently. Winning North American Trade Association of the Year is external recognition of the team we have built at ICBA and all of the hard work they do every day on behalf of our members.”

ICBA also won Overall Best Web Video – Public Affairs for its Big Gas ad, which has been watched more than 400,000 times on social media. Said Shane Greer, co-publisher of Campaigns & Elections and host of the Reed Awards dinner, “Oh Canada: the Overall Best Web Video – Public Affairs went to the Independent Contractors and Businesses Association for their ‘Get Canada’s Big Gas Moving’ ad… We’ve seen it many times now and still laugh every time.”

ICBA’s Big Gas campaign also won:

  • Best International Web Video
  • Best Canadian Web Video
  • Best International Outdoor Advertising
  • Best Canadian Outdoor Advertising

“Our Big Gas campaign caught lightning in a bottle and we’re very proud to see it recognized with these awards,” said Jordan Bateman, ICBA VP-Communications. “Our communications and advocacy work stands with the best in North America and we will continue to strongly, articulately, creatively and passionately make the case for a strong economy and our members’ issues.”

The Reed Awards, named after Campaigns & Elections founder and marketing pioneer Stanley Foster Reed, embody excellence in campaigning, political consulting, and public policy advocacy. Reed Award winners represent the very best the political campaign/policy advocacy industry has to offer. ICBA’s work was competing against the best in the business among American trade associations and all of the creative material put out by the Democratic and Republican parties.

“The Reeds are the most exacting award in political campaigns and grassroots advocacy,” said Campaigns & Elections’ Greer. “Winning one is exceptionally difficult, and those who have won the honor stand head and shoulders above the competition, producing world class work that is second to none.”

In 2018, ICBA won three Reed Awards for its Site C pink slip campaign, which successfully pushed the NDP Government to continue a construction project they campaigned against.

Light And Salt Ministries

“Light And Salt Ministries is very thankful for the support Epscan has provided to our work in Nicaragua. Over the years Epscan has sponsored our Boys Soccer Team and contributed to our shoe and leather-product making program by purchasing some vital equipment.

Epscan recently donated towards an educational program for young boys. The students you see in the picture attend school at the centre in Nicaragua and are being taught life lessons and values that are based on God’s Word. They have the opportunity to learn English, sports and how to express themselves through art. Educators at the Centre use strategies that help young boys with learning difficulties succeed in their studies.”

These are some quotes from a few of our students:

“I like Bible classes because I hear about God.” – Carlos

“What I like the most is the food because it fills my belly.” – Nick

“What I like most is to play because here I do it with my friends.” – Noel

Team Tardi BC Men’s Curling Team

“It’s official!

The boys have qualified for the 2019 BC Junior Curling Championship. Provincials will take place in Vernon from Dec 27 – Jan 1 and the finals will be broadcast (we don’t know how or where yet!).

They have 2 more big events taking place over the next 2 weekends.  We will be in Red Deer this weekend at the Red Deer Curling Classic and in Penticton next weekend at the Ashley Home Store Curling Classic.

Scores will be posted on the Curling Zone.

Thank you all for your support!!  They are highly motivated to make it back to Nationals…step 1 is done!”

Bollywood Nite Sponsorship

“Thank you for supporting the event which in turn is raising funds for an Inclusive Playground at the new M. Ma Murray Community School.”

Battle of the Peace

“Thank you so much for being a part of this year’s Battle of the Peace disc golf tournament in Taylor, BC. Weather was, for the third year in a row, fantastic and players from all over the Peace region (including several from Whitehorse) enjoyed a wonderful day of disc golf.

Our event couldn’t have happened without the generous support of community partners such as yourself. It was because of your sponsorship that we were able to have an inclusive event, keep the entry costs for players low, and allow them to have the most fun possible.

The charity raffle raised over $500 for local food banks. Thank you once again for sponsoring the event this year.”

Speed Skating (Club Sponsorship)

Epscan sponsored the Speed Skating Club last year and will be doing so again this year.
